Performance Monitoring - Analyze and monitor the performance statistics of production databases.
- Review thresholds and capacity planning.
- Perform trend analysis to end-up with the best forecast to prevent customer/user problems related to hardware, software and network functions.
Performance Tuning and Optimization - Perform all database related performance tuning and optimization as necessary.
- Performing database cleanups and archives, reconfiguring DB’s default configuration, and other database tuning processes that help to improve the performance of the system.
Database Security Management
- Manage database users and security by granting/revoking appropriate logins and permissions for individual users.
DB Disaster Recovery - Prepare code and document the step-by-step procedures on database Disaster Recovery in preparation for any catastrophic events.
- Apply modifications from time-to-time in accordance to the changes that promoted in production through a release process on weekly basis.
- Test the DR plan periodically on the Disaster Recovery Hotsite.
Third Party Tool Installation, Configuration and Evaluation - Evaluate, setup and configure third-party tools such as Database Scanner, CAST Application, Erwin/ModelMart, Veritas Backup.
- Researching and testing new database-related products, tools and methodologies.
